World Intellectual Property Organization

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is an intergovernmental organization with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland and is one of 16 agencies of the United Nations system of organizations. WIPO is responsible for the promotion of the protection of intellectual property throughout the world through cooperation among States, and for the administration of various multilateral treaties dealing with the legal and administrative aspects of intellectual property (industrial property and copyright). Several WIPO programs concern electronic commerce, including the WIPO Internet domain name process, Regional consultation meetings and international conference on intellectual property and electronic commerce, WIPO Copyright Treaty and the WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty. The license agreement incorporates the fair information practices recommended by the FTC and the Department of Commerce. It also features the new Children's Seal for children's sites. In the "For Web Publishers" section you will find a Wizard to help you create your own private privacy statement.
