Quick Steps

First time users, download and install the Citrix client software (available here for Windows, MacOS, and Linux) Go to the Smith Portal and use your University Directory username and password to log in (your University Directory account is the the same as what is used with Blackboard, Testudo, WebCT, etc.) In the Windows Applications channel,hit the Edit button and enter your Smith Netware account information, or pick "I do not have a Netware account" Click on the Research folder, and then pick the VBIC icon

Access to Business and Other UMD Subscription Databases via Research Port

There is no need to dial into the campus netowrk or download VPN software. Simply go to Research Port to access all of the Library's databases and e-journals. After logging in with your ID barcode and last name, you will not be asked to log in again for the duration of your session.

Quick Steps

1) Go to Research Port 2) Enter last name and barcode number.

1. Go to Research Port. Or go to UM Libraries' home page at http://www.lib.umd.edu/ and click on Research Port.
   
   
2. You will get a login screen where you can enter your last name and barcode number. Your barcode number is the 14-digit number on the back of your University of Maryland ID card. Be sure to enter the barcode number without any spaces or hyphens.
